Before joining the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, Melissa served as the Director of the Catalyst Program at Partnerships for Parks, a multi-borough leadership and community empowerment program funded by New York State and private grants. Prior to that, Melissa worked at the Women of Color Policy Network at New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service, and the New York City’s Department of Parks and Recreation. Melissa received a MBA from Rutgers University in 2014, a MPA from New York University in 2003, and her BA from Columbia University where she studied Urban Studies and Anthropology. Melissa is passionate about financial literacy, women’s issues, social justice, collaborative learning, and community empowerment.
