Julia Bowling

Julia Bowling provides research and communications assistance for the Humanities Action Lab. Bowling is pursuing an M.S. in Urban Policy Analysis and Management at The New School. Her primary research focus is criminal justice policy analysis and reform. Prior to The New School, she worked as a Research Associate in the Brennan Center’s Justice Program, where she examined the costs of mass incarceration and assisted with policy research, analysis, and proposals. In 2015, Bowling co-authored the report What Caused the Crime Decline?, which analyzed the impact of increasing incarceration rates and other factors on declining crime rates. She earned her B.A. in Economics and Environmental Studies at Oberlin College. Bowling plans to use her policy education to improve the criminal justice system through evaluation and strategic reform.
