Javi is from Santiago, Chile. She has a background in graphic and communication design, and through the Transdisciplinary Design MFA program, she has developed her practice around strategic and social design. She came to the program with a specific vision; to become a design expert in the healthcare field. Her first-hand experience as a caregiver revealed to her how design could play a role in healthcare to help ease the burden for those in treatment, and the loved ones who are taking care of them. As a designer, she realizes she can’t fix all of the problems she cares about, but she can try to design experiences that are more holistic, and bring additional support for those who suffer, are lost or alone.
