Dr. Iván J. Ramírez was born in Quito, Ecuador and grew up in New York City. His scholarly interests focus on the intersections of global health, climate change and social justice. In particular, he is interested in understanding how climate variability and change affect the vulnerability and health of populations, including impacts from water-related diseases, such as cholera and malaria. He is also interested in climate capacity building that enhances community and country resilience.
