Profile
Emma was born in Nairobi, Kenya and is half Kenyan, half Swedish. She came to design in an unorthodox way; having studied economics, she then worked at a strategy consulting firm with a focus on international development. Through the Transdisciplinary Design MFA program, she now considers herself a strategic designer. Her work in international development and particularly working with low-income farmers in East Africa exposed her to the power of design. Collaborating with people, to develop products, services, and strategies that are truly responsive to their needs – and perhaps just as importantly – their aspirations, is the way that she feels she can best create social impact through her work.
