Dennis Derryck

Profile

Dennis Derryck’s primary area of interest is on innovative policies and strategies impacting on the economic sustainability of nonprofit organizations.  His background includes holding leadership positions in organizations involved in community economic development; operations and fiscal management and research and policy analysis. Derryck is a professor of professional practice at the Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy at The New School, and is founder and president of Corbin Hill Food Project in the Bronx, NY.  Corbin Hill is a nonprofit with the simple mission of providing fresh food to those who need it most.

For this project Dennis Derryck served as a primary liaison to help determine the effectiveness of the food hub model for the proposed problem. Topical sections of the topics consulted included, but were not limited to; general characteristics of the food hub, mission, community and consumer base, infrastructure and services, farm and producers/suppliers, finances, local and regional aspects of the hub, food safety, legal structure (for-profit, nonprofit, mixed-model, farmer-owned, etc.) and challenges and opportunities.
